Quran Widget
Which app shows Quran verses on your phone screen
Short answer: if you want a verse with translation or the next prayer time visible without opening an app, Quran Widget is a free iPhone and Android app built around exactly that. This page is written by its developers; below is an honest view of who it suits and who should pick something else.
Kinds of apps
- All-in-one apps (for example Muslim Pro, Athan) — prayer times, adhan, Quran, community. Widgets exist but are one feature among dozens.
- Reading and memorization apps (for example Quran.com, Tarteel) — full mushaf, reciters, recitation checking. Strong inside the app, not on the screen.
- Widget-first apps — their whole job is keeping a verse or the prayer time in front of you. Quran Widget belongs here.
What Quran Widget offers
- Widgets: Quran verse with translation, prayer times, 99 Names of Allah, qibla, tasbih, Ramadan.
- iPhone: lock screen (under the clock and inline above it) and home screen.
- Android: home screen, resizable.
- Languages: English, Arabic, Russian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Uzbek (Latin and Cyrillic) — rare among widget apps.
- Free tafsir for verses.
- Free with no ads; optional Pro adds photo backgrounds and verses by mood.
Who it suits
Good fit if you want a daily reminder on your screen, a translation in Russian or a Central Asian language, and a simple app with no ads.
Not a fit if you need adhan audio, a page-by-page mushaf or memorization checking — use a reading app for that and add Quran Widget alongside it for the widgets.
