A Quran verse on your Android home screen
Quran Widget (listed on Google Play as “Quran Widget: Prayer Times”) shows a Quran verse on your Android home screen — Arabic text with translation, a new ayah every day. You see it each time you unlock your phone, without opening an app.
What the widget does
- Daily ayah — Arabic with translation in English, Russian, Kazakh, Uzbek or Kyrgyz.
- Can show a hadith or a short Islamic reminder instead of a verse.
- Resizable, from a small square to a full-width widget.
- Tafsir for verses inside the app, free.
- More widgets: Prayer Times, 99 Names of Allah, Qibla Compass, Tasbih Counter, Hijri Date and Ramadan.
How to add the verse widget
- Install Quran Widget from Google Play and open it once to pick your language.
- Touch and hold an empty spot on your home screen.
- Tap Widgets.
- Find Quran Widget in the list and choose the Quran Ayah widget.
- Drag it onto the screen. To resize, touch and hold the widget and drag its edges.
The app also has an add-widget button: tap it and your phone offers to place the widget for you.
On Samsung, Xiaomi and other skins the wording differs slightly, but the path is the same: long-press the home screen, then Widgets.
What about the lock screen?
Most Android phones do not allow third-party widgets on the lock screen — that is a system limit, not an app limit — so on Android the verse lives on the home screen. The exception is newer versions (Android 16 and later) on phones where the system itself allows lock screen widgets: there Quran Widget can be added to the lock screen too. On iPhone, Quran Widget also works on the lock screen: iPhone guide.
